Heyo 2015 Book Challenge #10

Among the Impostors 

This book is the second out of 7 books. I would say the first one was a little better. Plus this one was pretty up to page 92. THAT IS ABOUT HALF THE BOOK!!!!!!!! You would definitely need to read the 1st book to understand what is actually going on, but other than the boring half the book was pretty good. Yeah after those 92 pages the book got good and kept me on the edge of my seat. Like I said I can't tell you what really going on since I don't know if you read the book or not but here is the basic plot:

Luke Garner is a third child, and that does not seem to bad but in this generation the world running out of food and so every family is limited to 2 kids. There are many kids who are the third child but they are forced into hiding. Family's can give up there 3rd child but then will have to face many consequences . Maybe less for turning the kids in but still. If you know someone who murdered someone and you were paid to hide the body then you turned in the murder would get a pass. UH NO!!!!! Oh did I say the punishment for the kids. Yeah it's death. Can Luke escape his fate or will someone betray him?

2015 Book Challenge #10

The book I read was Remarkable by Lizzie K. Foley. Since I had to book report on it without spoiling the ending I am just going to post that so here it is copied and pasted:

hook: Once upon a time in the town of Remarkable where everyone is remarkable except Jane Doe. I mean if you ever wondered into this town and were speaking to any adult (except Jane’s parents) and you said Jane Doe or Jane and the word remarkable in the same sentence, their first response would probably be “Who’s Jane”. Then after you told them who Jane is they would look at your face to see if you were serious, then laugh and quickly walk away without looking back. They probably would have thought that you also thought that the Grimlet twins were well mannered and never cause trouble, and therefore be crazy or mental.  

setting: The book takes place in the town of Remarkable. In Remarkable there are 2 types of schools a regular old school like the one we’re in and then there is the best school in the history of schools where you are never wrong and teachers encourage you no matter what you do. Oh and there is no such thing as a bad kid. It is called Remarkable’s  School for the Remarkably Gifted. The town has the lake of Remarkable right next to it which has something very special in it. A Sea Monster named Lucky. Lucky is very shy and she will only come out of the lake for Grandpa John and his Figgy Doodles.

main characters description:

Jane Doe: She is ten years old, medium height, her eyes have particular color, and the hair on the top of her head is not quite brown enough to even be called mousy. She is the only kid at the regular school until the Grimlet twins get expelled from Remarkable’s  School for the Remarkably Gifted. She at first is excited to have new the classmates until they cause so much trouble that they turn their teacher into a pirate.

Anderson Brigby Bright Doe: Is the big brother of Jane and his remarkable talent is painting. He has fallen in love with the annoying Lucinda Wilhelmina Hinojosa. Who can’t even remember his name because she is too obsessed with locating her favorite but missing musician.  

Captain Rogo Herring: A run away pirate who doesn’t even want to be a pirate. He just moved into Remarkable and lives in a haunted mansion on a hill. He has 2 peg legs ,but somehow manages to learn how to ride a bike. Friend of Jane.

Grandpa John Doe: The most unremarkable man in Remarkable no matter how long he’s known a person they never fail to introduce themselves anytime he says hi to one of the townspeople. Grandpa of Jane.

Mayor Julietta Augustina Doe: Wife of Grandpa John. She is the Grandmother of Jane. You wouldn’t say she’s disappointed in Jane’s lack of talent ,but she is certainly not impressed and she definitely does not approve. And if something isn’t approved by Mayor Julietta Augustina Doe they usually have to go, but because Jane is her granddaughter she will try to help her find a talent if she remembers that Jane even exists.  

Eddie Grimlet: New friend of Jane. Remarkable talent is being evil. He’s twins with Melissa Grimlet. He and Melissa sometimes go too far and drive any sane person insane.

Melissa Grimlet: Friend of Jane. Twins with Eddie Grimlet. She and Eddie have the same talent. They are planning something disastrous for the science fair dance.

The 3 Pirates: They are not really main characters but deserve to be mentioned. The 3 pirates are out to find Captain Rogo Herring to do something real bad. But they have had no luck yet.

plot/problem: In this story there are a bunch of little problem but there are 4 big problems. Two for Jane, one for Anderson Brigby Bright, and one for Grandpa John. Grandpa John’s problem is that the town is building a bell tower that plays the kind of of music that Lucky will come up out of the lake to dance too. If she comes out every hour then she will be hunted down by scientists and have many test done. Grandpa John cares too much for Lucky to have this happen, but how will he stop the construction of the bell tower. Anderson Brigby Bright’s problem is that he can not get his true love to fall for him and he won’t stop bugging Jane for help. Jane’s first problem is that she is unremarkable and that she feels that her own parents don’t believe in her finding her talent. Her 2cd problem is that the Grimlet twin have caused so much trouble that they turned her teacher into a incredibly mean pirate teacher. Instead of giving Jane and the twins a worksheet or 2 for homework she give them pile of stinkn’ hard homework, the littlest things set the teacher off and then she makes them walk a wooden plank out the window into a kiddie pool full of water. So they are stuck wet all day.

favorite passage: “Grandpa John disappeared into the kitchen to cook everyone a nice dinner of plain noodles and unbuttered toast. But as soon as he was out of sight, Jane’s Grandmother forgot all about him and picked up the phone to order dinner from Remarkable’s House of Otherworldly Pizza.”

reason: It makes me smile and it shows how unremarkable Grandpa John is. Even his wife can hardly remember him or where he is at the time and place.

cliff hanger: Will Jane ever find her remarkable talent? Will the 3 pirates find Captain Rogo Herring? Will Anderson Brigby Bright win the affection of his true love? Will the twins get away with their extremely evil plan? Will Grandpa John stop the construction of the bell tower? Find out in the book Remarkable by Lizzie Foley. On Amazon for $13.99.

We Got a New Puppy

That's right folks we got our 3rd puppy. His name is Porter (POR-D-ER). He is a Morkie (Maltese-Yorkie mix) He will only get to be 7-10 pounds. He does not really fit in with our Standard size Golden Doodles and they do not get him. To them Porter is a tiny chew toy. This is picture of Porter...

2015 Book Challenge #9

Because of Winn-Dixie.  One summer Opal and her father, the preacher, move to Naomi, Florida. opal hates this new town and she finds it hard to make friends. Until one day, Opal goes into the Winn-Dixie the supermarket and a big, ugly, stray dog with a sense of humor and a incredible smile comes into Winn-Dixie and tackles the shop keeper. The shop workers are about to call the pond when Opal rushes in and lies about the dog being hers. To try to prove it Opal names the dog Winn-Dixie and leaves with her head held high.  Because of Winn-Dixie, the preacher tells Opal ten things about her absent mother, one for each year Opal has been alive. Opal spends all that sweet summer collecting stories about her new friends, and thinking about her mother (who ran away when Opal was 3). Can Opal live happy in this town after all just Because of Winn-Dixie?

2015 Book Challenge #8

I read I Even Funnier. Most of the book was funny, but WARNING: THIS BOOK SHOULD HAVE THE NICKNAME I DEPRESSING!!!!! I can't really tell you what is deppresing about because that would ruin a lot of surprises (Happy and Sad ones). This is the second book out of a 3 book series. The main caracter, Jamie, is a comedian who has a super funny life, but a super depressing life that is until he moves in until he gets to compete in Boston for a chance to go to Las Vegas to then to Las Vegas then to Hollywood to finally win the title of FUNNIEST KID ON THE PLANET. Does Jamie win FUNNIEST KID ON THE PLANET or will his dreams be crushed by fate find out in I Even Funnier.

2015 Book Challenge #7

I read The Summer Before Boys. It was about Julia (12) and her niece Eliza (12) (how did happen, LONG story, but I will tell anyway, Take a deep breath and get ready to read : So basically Lousia was born, then somthing happened to her mother when she was in her early 20s her dad got remarried, Lousia was also married to a guy named Bruce, shortly after he got remarried the couple was blessed by a baby girl they named Julia and around the same time Eliza was born into the family of Lousia, Julia's half sister, and her husband Bruce. Wow if I was telling you this face to face I would be out of breath) Julia and Eliza started out being friends, but then Julia met Michel and since then it has all been down hill. That is really all I can say, but this was a great book and you should try to read it sometime.

2015 Book Challenge #6

I read the Hunger Games witch is a book that takes place in the future. It is about this girl Katniss Everdeen who is picked to be in a game (witch some people find fun to watch were others think it's just heartless) called the Hunger Games. In the Hunger Games there are 2 tributes from every district (District 1, District 2, District 3, District 4, District 5, District 6, District 7, District 8, District 9, District 10, District 11, District 12 oh and there is the Capital to, but they are too "good" to be in the Hunger Games) so there are 24 tributes and only 1 can come out alive. Oh did I forget to mention that the Hunger Games' tributes are 12-18 no older no younger also there is one girl tribute and one boy tribute for each district. Can you believe how ruthless the Capital is. Katniss is 16 and so is her fellow tribute Peeta. Now I can't say to much more ,but I will share with you 3 more things.

1. Katniss is from District 12
2. Katniss does kill some people
3. Katniss looks great in fire

I watched Bad Hair Day the Disney Channel Original Movie and in my opinion it should get  5 stars.  It was a great movie about Monica, an innocent girl who just wants to have a good day, and Liz a former Police Officer who becomes friends with Monica. You should watch it when it comes out on Friday the 13th.

Today I finished reading Rules. I can't say to much because it will just give the ending away. But I will tell about the characters.

2015 Book Challenge 3

      Today I read Rapunzel's Revenge. It was a wonderful graphic novel full of adventure, action, and hair. The story is another version of Rapunzel's life. It still has a Mother Gothel and Rapunzel's long hair (it is actually red this time), but it is not a prince that get's her down from her tower (and it's not even a tower at all,  it is a large hole in a tree where she is able to live) it is herself that escapes that sad, lonly place. She does meet a guy along the way (his name is Jack), and they go fight crime together. So it is like Batman and Batgirl except Rapunzel likes to be the leader. (YOU GO GIRL) So they go off together to try to stop Mother Gothel's evil plans. Will they succeed or will they die?! DUN Dun dunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2015 Book Challange

So I'm doing this 50 book reading challenge were I have to read 52 this year. I will be blogging about each book I read. The first book I read was The Puzzle Of The Paper Daughter.

It is about American Girl's own Julie and her best friend Ivy. I give the book 5 stars because you can't put it down and you are always on your the edge of your seat. It is about the Chinese migration to America. It give many facts that can be sad, but informative. You should definitely read this book if you like mysteries. In this book Julie and Ivy hunt out the thief who stole their favorite dolls, popped of their heads, and them away. They also want to know why. The girls heard about Ivy's grandma's past and how she got separated from her friend when they were only 15. The girls then decide to find grandma's friend to make her happy. Are the girls able to find the thief? Are they able to find the Ivy's grandma's friend? The only way to find out is if you read the amazing mystery The Puzzle Of The Paper Daughter.
